Big Society - The Musical
'Big
Society - The Musical' a feature length production being produced exclusively
on Merseyside by First Take.
First Take are looking for ordinary people, performers,
dancers, singers, musicians, extras and production assistants, young or
old, to come and get involved in a shoot where over 150 people will perform
on a closed street on Merseyside.
First Take, based in Liverpool, is an award-winning not for profit filmmaking
organisation specialising in working with diverse communities, young people
and on artistic collaborations, producing edgy, authentic, untold and
often complex stories. It aims to create films to impact on people's lives,
their understanding and perceptions and push the boundaries of filmmaking.
Recognised as one of the key media organisations in Liverpool, First Take
contributes greatly to the cultural status of the city.
"Big Society – The Musical" is a born and bred Liverpool
story, layered with insights into Merseyside city life. One woman’s
personal journey becomes a foil for society’s journey as we unfold
a story of our people and our emotions, in a time of recession. Spliced
into the film are scenes shot at Liverpool Gay Pride parade, of Buskers
on Bold Street, Trade Union marches and of street performance's as we
use real events to articulate the narrative of the cities cultural scene.
In association with Granby 4 Streets, First Take are announcing the opportunity
for members of the community to get involved in the production of the
films largest musical scene taking place on Cairns Street Toxteth on Sunday
