Audition Notice - All Quiet on the Western Front
Burjesta Theatre
Wed 13th August 2014 at 7pm
The Casa, Hope Street, Liverpool, L1 9BQ
Burjesta Theatre are holding auditions for their 9th production to date,
an in-house adaptation of Erich Maria Remarque's classic anti-war novel
'All Quiet on the Western Front' on Wednesday 13th August.
It is set in World War I, and seen from the perspective of ordinary German
soldiers, both at the front fighting with the French and British and also
on the Home Front. There are plenty of parts and not exclusively for men
with significant parts for women too.
There will be two workshops in the lead up to the audition. These will
be next Wednesday, 30th July and the Wednesday following, 6th August,
both at 7pm and at The Casa. They will look at themes from the play whom
the director will be focusing on in the production.
PLEASE NOTE - They will only audition actors who attend the workshops
and that this is unpaid work. There is no need to prepare a piece for
the audition which will be a combination of devised and script work provided
on the day.
Performance dates for the production are 14th, 15th, 17th, 19th, 21st
and 22nd of November.

[It may be helpful to actors wishing to audition, though by no means
obligatory, to watch the 1930 black and white film adaptation of All Quiet
on the Western Front, which will give you a good feel of the novel. It
is available on You Tube in full if you search for it. Avoid watching
the 1970s colour version which is a much poorer and inadequate adaptation]
