Eight Days A Week: Liverpool and Koln

A number of Liverpool artists have the opportunity to exhibit their work in Koln, Germany, under the Eight Days A Week exchange project, first set up by the two cities in 1998

There will be two shows in Koln displaying their work, opening at the end of April - one curated by George Gartz, titled 'Crash, featuring work by George himself as well as Geoff Molyneux, Neil Morris, Tracey Brown and Lin Holland, together with pictures by German artists.

The second show, 'New Paintings', will be curated by Pete Clarke, which will feature work by four artists based in Arena Studios - Jim Buso, Sue Milburn, Julie Jones and Paul Luckraft - as well as images by Clarke himself.

"I chose these four artists because I was impressed with their work shown at the first exhibition to be staged at Arena Studios in November," said Clarke,"and because I want to give greater opportunities for younger artists to promote and sell their work.

"The show in Koln could open the door for them in their career as an artist," he added, "and also perhaps lead to them establishing productive long-term links with German artists."

Several German artists will similarly have such opportunities with English based artists when they visit Liverpoo this year.

Bluecoat Arts Centre, with the support of director Bryan Biggs helped set up the Eight Days A Week project, are running an arts project in the summer involving artists from Germany, but before then, at the beginning of April, eight artists from Hagen, will be exhibiting at the JMU School of Art & Design buildingin Hope Street.
