The Penis Monologues come to Liverpool for an April Fools Special Debut

This April The Nomadic Academy for Fools brings their unique improvisational theatre to Liverpool with The Penis Monologues. To date the show has had three sell-out performances in Bristol and Glastonbury, Somerset and has just returned from a successful run in London.

The production is a semi-improvised journey that delves into the heart of contemporary man’s unmanly revelations.
Exploring male attitudes towards sex, women, violence, emotional insecurities and what it’s like to have a penis, four men bring to life their personally true stories with vulnerability and a foolish edge.

The project’s originator, Paul Scott, had felt impacted watching Eve Ensler’s The Vagina Monologues, “I was inspired, yet wanted to take it a step further by creating a piece where each cast member brings their own personal experiences.”

Each monologue is personal and unique, yet the themes are universal. The audience can each find themselves and the depths of their vulnerabilities being played out on stage.

Justine Corrie, the show’s co-producer discusses the impact the show has had on audiences to date, “The show attracts a lot of curious women as well as men. The feedback we’ve received after the shows has been incredible, there’s a sense of relief that these issues are being brought out into the open in such a playful way.”

With each performance the show evolves, it’s never the same show twice. The cast work together in the moment, with set pieces told in a spontaneous and unrehearsed style. This is genuine theatre of the fool.

This is an exciting London debut for The Penis Monologues and talented cast of: Paul Scott, Bruce Knight, Chris Murray, Danny Mullins and Joanne Tremarco with additional support from Jane Scott.
