Back to index of Nerve 11 - Winter 2007 Artist Profile - Daiva GauryteDaiva Gauryte is a Liverpool based artist. Daiva was born in 1982 in Lithuania. She is a graduate in Fine Art & Design at Siauliai University (Lithuania) 2000-2005. She is currently studying for an MA in Fine Art at Liverpool Hope University. Her current practice explores a concept of language through visual interpretation, acknowledging that language is not just something to be simply translated, but can also be expressed through created imagery, particularly when that imagery involves the relationship between the built and the natural environment. "The challenge in my work as it is in the true sense, is the creation of a successful and harmonious relationship. My art is a reflection of what I think and feel. I love the infinite possibilities for creating relationships and reactions within my work from a combination of key elements that are fundamental to everyone. My compositions derive order from their structured make up combined with the fluidity of their foundation. The use of dynamic composition breathes life into the work representing the presence and influence of society. "Art is a powerful communication force, not only for the artist but also for the art viewer. With art we can overcome different languages, cultures and divisions in society. The communicating begins the moment we take control of our beliefs and ideas." Email: daiva820404@yahoo.com Printer friendly page |
