March 1978: Ring Road Protest Group formed

A film against the Ring Road by Vauxhall Neighbourhood Council
After the Kingsway Tunnel was built, the area around Scotland Road became segregated into units by the feeder roads to this and to the Queensway Tunnel. Proposals to build an inner city ring road would have led to a worsening of the already poor living conditions. As a reaction to this, and to and the difficulty in accessing amenities, a protest group was formed. Plans for the road were shelved.
