Back to index of Nerve 12 - Summer 2008 Afghan EmbroideryDetails from a large (3.5x1.2 metres) embroidered work in silk. It’s from a project entitled ‘Success to the Afghans, Success to the Danes’. A collaborative piece done through Bluecoat Connect, working with a group of young Afghan refugees. The subject comes from a book – an inventory – of Danish migrant workers in Liverpool around 1910-1920. The book, found in a skip, contains photographs and names of people registered here. The banner was shown in the Central Library’s Picton Reading Room, and now hangs in St Anne’s Church in Overbury Street. Printer friendly page |
