I graduated in 2004 in Graphic Design at Central Saint Martin's College
of Art & Design. I specialise in making 3-D illustrations of weird
and wonderful scenes, illustrating a variety of subjects from Hansel and
Gretel to designs for alternative Christmas wrapping paper.
My work in illustrating and model making consists of many different elements
- from drawing to using sewing machines - which allows me to capture a
unique look.
In a single illustration I use many varieties of materials, for example,
ink, paint, plastics, cardboard, fabric, Fimo (a modelling clay), and
so on. Once I have constructed my sets and figures I then photograph the
sites, which then adds another dimension to the existing artwork.
I believe there is a distinctive atmosphere throughout my work. I am very
versatile and the key to it lies in my imagination.
I take inspiration from film director Tim Burton - who I think is a genius
- as well as the talented Edward Gorey, who illustrated peculiar little
tales which are very amusing.
I have exhibited some of my work at the Polished T venue in Duke Street,
Liverpool.
