This is a very thoughtful, complex and intelligent film, brilliantly acted, particularly by the young children at the centre of the story.

Two babies are accidentally swapped at birth and raised by families from very different backgrounds - one very affluent and the other trying to make ends meet.

The father of one Ryoto (Masaharu Fukuyama) is a workaholic while the other Yudai (Franky Lily) is a laid back character in charge of a ramshackle shop.

Like Father, Like Son examines the inevitable heartbreak the revelation causes to both families, with both children now six-years-old, raising complex questions, some never to be answered.

It is a humane and heartwarming movie, impeccably directed by Hirokazu Koreeda, one of Japan's leading masters of filmmaking.
