Royal Mail is Not for Sale!

Old Swan, Kirkby, Huyton, Breck Road and Prescot post offices will close or be franchised under plans affecting 76 across the country.

Strike action will take place all day on Tuesday May 28 by 4,000 staff working in 373 Crown (main) post offices.

Royal Mail have just announced £403m profit. Meanwhile counter staff are to have their pay frozen for four years as part of the drive towards privatisation.

Post offices play a vital role in the life of the high street. When they shut, surrounding shops die as well.

When they get stuffed into a megastore, the personal touch is lost and they are difficult to get to; as anyone can testify who's been into the one tucked away upstairs in WH Smith's Liverpool One shop.

Post Office staff voted by nine to one (88%) in favour of strike action and have already been out on Easter Saturday, April 19, April 29 and May 7.
